Free Entrace to Back Alley Blues

Anyone currently enrolled in a BluesProgressions series class will obtain free entrance to Back Alley Blues for the duration of the series. This is a $25 value! We offer this perk to help students get out and practice the material they just learned as quickly as possible. Back Alley Blues is located in the same venue as the Blues Progressions classes.

Level 2- Dancing the Blues

What does it mean to truly dance the blues as opposed to just going through the motions? When dancing the blues, we allow ourselves to be taken into the moment by the music and our partner. We allow feeling to trump rationality, and we embrace the spirit of our individuality and its connection to the outside world. When dancing the blues, thoughts give way to movement and our body fills with the energy of our presence.

In this class, we will introduce concepts and techniques that will help students tap more deeply into the dance experience. Technically, we will focus on activating the core and increasing our presence by connecting our entire body to the point where our movement originates. This will allow us to put more energy into our dancing while still retaining control of our movement.

Conceptually, we will explore new ways to play with the music and our partner. We will learn to move with the pulse of the music and play with the lyrical content of the song. We will inspire and become inspired by our partners.

By the end of the series, students should feel more confident as dancers and will have the tools to take their dance to the next level of fun.

This class is meant for students who have taken both level 1 series- “Blues in Small Spaces” and “Open Blues Movement” or have a similar background. For those of you who wish to enter this class without these prerequisites, contact one of our instructors for permission.
